Orange County's Popular German-Style Sausage And Beer Hall is one of the few Californian establishments selected to carry the limited edition 1516 brew by Weihenstephan, the World’s oldest brewery.

SANTA ANA, CALIF - With European football on the television, numerous German brews on tap, and sausages on every table, Wursthaus follows in the tradition of the hundreds-of-years-old German Beer halls that dot the continent. It is no surprise then that April 23rd marks an important day for them as it is the anniversary of a 500-year old piece of parchment, the Reinheitsgebot, literally ‘purity law’ in English, which limited the price of beer and the ingredients used to brew it. Often credited as resulting in the high quality of German Beer, the limited edition brew Wursthaus has secured for the occasion is no different.   

Wursthaus is one of the select few California locations where visitors can get a taste of the limited edition beer brewed just for the occasion by the World’s Oldest Brewery, Weihenstephan (circa 1040). The new beer, simply called 1516, is a kellerbier that follows in the tradition of original unfiltered beer brewing. The result is a complicated brew reflecting classical styles with technical excellence. It has a 5.6% strength and gets its flavor from it’s unique hops that include the lemon-like Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and the spicy character of the incredibly rare Hallertauer Record. Of the hundred kegs shipped to California, Wursthaus is proud to have received ten of them. A new reimagining of a classic German Beer Hall, Wursthaus serves up delicious sausages and 20+ imported beers in a wonderfully uncomplicated way. The menu is divided into three types of sausages: classics, gourmet, and exotic.
