Wursthaus Press Release | April 2016

THE 500 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF GERMANY’S BEER ‘PURITY’ LAW IS CELEBRATED WITH AN EXCLUSIVE BREW AT WURSTHAUS

Orange County's Popular German-Style Sausage And Beer Hall is one of the few Californian establishments selected to carry the limited edition 1516 brew by Weihenstephan, the World’s oldest brewery.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 2016

SANTA ANA, CALIF - With European football on the television, numerous German brews on tap, and sausages on every table, Wursthaus follows in the tradition of the hundreds-of-years-old German Beer halls that dot the continent. It is no surprise then that April 23rd marks an important day for them as it is the anniversary of a 500-year old piece of parchment, the Reinheitsgebot, literally ‘purity law’ in English, which limited the price of beer and the ingredients used to brew it. Often credited as resulting in the high quality of German Beer, the limited edition brew Wursthaus has secured for the occasion is no different.

Wursthaus is one of the select few California locations where visitors can get a taste of the limited edition beer brewed just for the occasion by the World’s Oldest Brewery, Weihenstephan (circa 1040). The new beer, simply called 1516, is a kellerbier that follows in the tradition of original unfiltered beer brewing. The result is a complicated brew reflecting classical styles with technical excellence. It has a 5.6% strength and gets its flavor from it’s unique hops that include the lemon-like Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and the spicy character of the incredibly rare Hallertauer Record. Of the hundred kegs shipped to California, Wursthaus is proud to have received ten of them. Stop in soon to raise a glass in honor of the parchment that gave way to modern beer brewing, once it’s gone it’s gone.

About Wursthaus:

A new reimagining of a classic German Beer Hall, Wursthaus serves up delicious sausages and 20+ imported beers in a wonderfully uncomplicated way. The menu is divided into three types of sausages: classics, gourmet, and exotic. Guests must choose between a pretzel roll and a more traditional bun, which will then be topped with their choice of toppings: sauerkraut, sautéed jalapeños, and sautéed onions are three such options. Wursthaus is also known for their Drunken Fries, which are traditional Belgian fries that are triple fried and then topped with a homemade haus andalouse sauce and IPA caramelized onions. Open late, until 2 am on Friday & Saturday, Wursthaus is often the first or last stop on a Downtown Santa Ana bar-crawl. With a laid-back atmosphere sprinkled with community tables, it is the perfect place to enjoy a pint of bier with friends or strangers. Wursthaus is located at 305 E. 4th St, #106, Santa Ana, California. Their hours are Sunday through Thursday from11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. For more information visit their website www.wursthausdtsa.com or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
